Carolyn Baum

For local artist Carolyn Baum, beads have always been a way of life. She’s used them as teaching tools and as reference points when evaluating antique jewelry. But, in 1996, Carolyn finally had the opportunity to make her own beads. Then, in 1997 she went to study at the Corning Studio of Glass. There, she learned to strive for a excellence with every new piece. Since then, Carolyn has explored many avenues in the world of art glass and continues to combine her love of nature with her love of melting glass.

Drawing inspiration from the Shawangunk Mountains, Carolyn’s beads have won several national awards and she was chosen to represent the International Society of Glass Beadmakers in several national shows. Her glass bead creations have been published in several national magazines and many books on beads.
